TRANSIT HOME CUM WOMEN AND CHILD HELPLINE Aim of the Project: Empower our society for better justice, better living, respect and a stable society Objectives:
  • Generation of a sense of security from a very first hour of rescue, of victims of trafficking and exploitation , to their reintegration in the community from which they belong.
  • Generation of security to the rescued victims through shelter homes from where they will be rehabilitated and the process of their reintegration be carried out.
  • Empowering them with life skill trainings, confidence building and capacitate them to lead their life on their own
  • Strengthen them to fight against evils of traffickers and community
  • To create an environment where no gaps could be found between victims and other members of community
  • In the community the problem of individual will be considered as the problem of all and community could access security for suffers and alls

SANKALP

SANKALP- “Combating trafficking in children with focus on girl child in Jharkhand”  Overall objective: Restoration of trafficked victims to their family with focus on girl child in Jharkhand. Target groups: Trafficked Girl Child, who have been rescued by the authority and need to be reintegrated with their family. Driving Training

BKS has introduced this training in the year 2010 for girls as a pilot programme seeing the interest of girls in driving sector. Further BKS expanded this training in 2012 by providing this training to the boys too. Till now BKS has been providing training to 40 Youths and have placed 32 Youths in different sectors and now they are living a life of dignity and self-respect and sustaining their livelihood

Case Study of Aarti Kumari

Aarti Kumari says “I want to become a Change Maker……………………..”Arti Name: Aarti Kumari Present Age: 18 years Address: Not Known Aarti was brought to Kishori Niketan, Bijupara a short-stay home run by Bal Kalyan Sangh, Ranchi with the support of Department of Social Welfare (WCD) Govt. of Jharkhand on 4th February 2011. As per her counselling report, it came out that at the very young age she used to beg in her nearby street with her brother for their livelihood. Her father was a drunker and whatever he earned used to expense it on drinking purpose. When the children came later after begging he use to beat the children harshly for this. Both the children were also very much abused by the Stepmother. One day Aarti’s father sold her to a stranger for money. But she then, however, ran away from there and came back to her home. (more…)

ADVOCACY

5.1 Launching Sticker Campaign on anti-child labour To stop child labour sticker campaign was launched at hotel Ashoka on dated 23rd may 2013. It was jointly organised by BKS, JSCPCR and save the children. The campaign was jointly launched by Shri Vinod Kumar, member NCPCR, New Delhi, Shri Asim Srivastava, member secretary NCPCR and Shri Sanjay Kumar Mishra, member SCPCR. The purpose was to spread the mass awareness on anti-child labour.

5.2 Survivors conference A two days regional level survivor’s conference was organized on June 7th & 8th 2013 at State institute of Rural Development, Ranchi organized by ATSEC Jharkhand Chapter and Save the Children. The purpose was to share the experiences of survivors of trafficking, to understand the problems faced, pre and post rescue to develop an action plan for the survivor’s forum identifying roles of NGOs and the government. HEALTH CAMP

Health camp was conducted at KGBV Chanho, Mander, and Namkum by BKS with support of save the children. About 10 doctors participated in the events, which specialization in varied fields like Dental, skin related problems, eye specialist, general physician and Gynae experts

MAJBOOR KISKO BOLA

Majboor kisko bola (who are you helpless) is a radio based community programme on labor welfare human rights, social equity initiated in collaboration with BBC media action. This program is implemented in 15villages of Murhu block in khunti district. A listener group was formed in each villages and the new episodes were run every week. After the episodes the Listeners Group have the discussion over the episode. Response of the Villagers about the Radio Programme-
  1. The villagers like the radio programme, and used to listen the episodes with great interest.
  2. Through the Radio Programme the villagers came to know about many issues like that of Bonded labour, Migration, their basic rights etc.
  3. They became more vocal for want of their rights. Now if they see any case of a Missing child, they come to the Police Station to report.
  4. If anyone goes out for work they make it a point to leave the address of the destination place, along with some contact number of that place, and inform it to the other family members or neighbours.

CHILDLINE 1098

CHILDLINE is a national project supported by Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India and linkage with the state government, NGOs, allied system and corporate sector. This 1098 is a toll free telephone number for children in need of care and protection. Any child or concerned adult on behalf of children can dial 1098 to get emergency service of CHILDLINE. BKS is working as Nodal Agency in Pakur and as Collab in Dhanbad. Presently in Pakur 6 NGO partners working in Dhanbad. CHILDLINE 1098 receives special mention in the Juvenile Justice (care and protection) Act, 2000 and it in corporate “the best interest of Juvenile’. CHILDLINE 1098 has been included as an integral component in the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS), 2009. (more…)
