Webinar on “Mental Health of Children in the Digital Age” -World Mental Health Day 2025
On the occasion of World Mental Health Day 2025, Bal Kalyan Sangh, in collaboration with ATSEC India, organized a national-level webinar on “Mental Health of Children in the Digital Age.” Over 1500 participants including experts, NGOs, educators, and school children joined the discussion. The event was led by Mr. Sanjay Kumar Mishra, Secretary of Bal Kalyan Sangh and National Coordinator of ATSEC India. The webinar aimed to shed light on the growing mental health challenges faced by children in today’s technology-driven world.
Experts like Subroto Chatterjee from Miracle Foundation India, Mittu Muthu Varghese, Psychiatric Social Work Consultant, and Jagannath Pati, former Director of CARA, emphasized the impact of social media, lack of face-to-face interaction, and the digital shift post-COVID on children’s emotional well-being. They stressed the need for digital detox, family engagement, supportive school environments, and early intervention. Rajeev Pandey from DWCD, Govt. of Jharkhand, highlighted the importance of self-love and balancing digital and real-life experiences. Karuna Narang, a child protection expert, warned of online risks that could lead to real-world consequences, including POCSO cases, if digital boundaries are not set.
Children actively participated in the Q&A session, raising concerns about marriage-related pressure, emotional outbursts, ADHD, and more. Experts encouraged open conversations, peer support, and the use of mental health helplines. The moderator, Dr. Vikram Srivastava said, “The digital world is a business, we’re either consumers or producers.” The event concluded with a collective message: “Love yourself more, and your phone a little less.” Mental health is everyone’s responsibility, and it’s time we create safe, compassionate spaces for our children- both online and offline.
