Swacchta Abhiyan Launched in Khunti
In the days leading up to Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, Bal Kalyan Sangh (BKS) launched a Swacchta Abhiyan (Cleanliness Campaign) at the Murhu Panchayat Bhawan in Khunti district to honour Gandhiji’s commitment to cleanliness and sustainable living. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Alok Dubey,IAS, DDC Khunti, Ms. Alice Odeya, Murhu Pramukh, Mr. Arun Sabu, Murhu Deputy Pramukh and BKS Director Mr. Sanjay Kr. Mishra. As part of the initiative, a plantation drive was also carried out within the Panchayat Bhawan premises to promote a clean and green environment. The dignitaries planted saplings, symbolising a long-term commitment to both environmental care and community well-being.
A powerful street play was presented by young leaders from BKS’s ‘Sapno Ki Udaan’ project, focusing on the need for cleanliness and active citizen participation. Their performance urged the community to take ownership of their surroundings and adopt regular hygiene practices. With this campaign, BKS aims to create awareness, inspire behavioural change, and build a cleaner, greener future in alignment with the values Mahatma Gandhi stood for.
